But if you plan on keeping the noise within the basement, you will need to insulate the ceiling as well. This works well for basements that are used a basement bars, family rooms or home theaters. 

2. Before starting the insulation process, you need check the walls for any moisture or water leakage. If you do find water problems on your walls, you will need to address the problems before installing the insulation boards.

3. The band joists in your wall should be caulked and sealed to avoid air from entering the wall joints. It will also protect all the possible wall infiltrations and will keep all the plumbing and electrical connections from being damaged.

4. If you use paper facing in faced insulating basement wall, it should not be left exposed since it is completely flammable. You can use a drywall to cover up the paper facing in order to keep your basement safe.
